In case you didn't know about the huge gig poster festival (Flatstock) they have at South by Southwest (SXSW), here's some coverage from around the web to enjoy. I'm really making it a point to attend the next one: theres so many talented poster designers, artists, and printers with so many gig posters, screen prints, letterpress prints...you name it, it seems to be there. Special thanks for Printeresting's first-hand coverage of it -- really neat stuff.

Adam the Velcro Suit - gig flyers and posters

This one has to be a favorite: simple and clean, but enough subtle details to make it cleverly fantastic.

Granted, the vinyl record is an iconic image in gig posters and flyer designs -- and I love seeing it done well. Off the top of my head I recall similar trends in shapes and colors by SuperExpresso and at BigAudio.

I think the execution of the drop is pretty clever.

Does this remind anyone of those olde-style flyer-booklets Trader Joes used to send out years ago?

From Cape Town, South Africa, Adam The Velcro Suit designs some of the coolest gig flyers I've seen lately. Some are witty and clean, others inspired by olde-school styling. Check out his Flickr or Myspace for more.

Love how the colors and embossing complement the typography. Kinda retro, but not.

Dan Stiles

So apparently Mr. Styles is responsible for this really hypnotic design above, which you might have seen at the Sasquatch Festival. Check out our post on the posters from the last festival here.

Dan Stiles recently featured his work at this year's SXSW Flatstock in Austin, Texas, and apparently has updated his work uploaded on his website as well. Last time I checked, almost all of these prints are still for sale, except for the Flight of the Conchords poster which was sold out. Also check out his blog for more updates.
