The Good Soul painting by Artist Greg Craola American Cancer Society Auction

From Gallery1988

A few weeks back we had a Skate Deck and Print Release for artist Greg "Craola" Simkins here at G1988: LA, and Greg live painted for a few hours. He went home, finished the piece, and created "The Good Soul," a 24 x 36 inch beauty, that is now being auctioned by Greg and Gallery1988, with every penny being donated to the American Cancer Society (in the memory of my late father, and huge Greg Simkins fan, Lawrence Karp).

This piece really is awesome, and the results of Greg's real only live painting session ever. If you want to stop by the LA gallery and see it in person, feel free. It's here.

And you can bid on it here:

More Previews: “Crazy 4 Cult 3D” @ Gallery 1988 (LA) Greg Simkins & Amy Sol collab piece

Here is the amazing and unprecedented collaboration piece between Amy Sol and Greg “Craola” Simkins for this year’s Crazy 4 Cult show at Gallery 1988 (LA). This tribute to “The Neverending Story” is one of the many stunning pieces for this annual exhibition celebrating cult movies. Opening this Thursday night, July 16th (7 - 10pm), attendees will do well for themselves to get there early as lines will be long.

Dave MacDowell takes on Robert Williams
Artist Davie MacDowell will not only put his own spin on cult movie Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory for "Crazy 4 Cult 3-D," but he will also be reinterpreting a classic piece from a low-brow master. Robert Williams first created his painting, "Appetite For Destruction," for the Guns N' Roses album of the same name. But unfortunately his vision was banned, due to what some might call graphic content. Robert's now legendary piece is seen below...

When it came time for "Crazy 4 Cult" Dave MacDowell took aim at both this painting and the Gene Wilder classic, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory," with his own vision, "Appetite For Veruca."

An Afternoon with Greg Simkins at Gallery 1988 Los Angeles

From Jensen at G1988

So on Saturday, June 27th, from 12 - 4 PM, we'll be having an event that is sure to be one of the coolest daytime art gatherings of the year. LA artist Greg "Craola" Simkins will be partaking in what is a first here at G1988 - an "afternoon hang-out."

Greg will be in the gallery to celebrate the very limited edition releases of his print, "Here Stands Matt Riddle," and the "Lonely Knight" laser-engraved skate deck. Even cooler? Greg Simkins will be live painting in the gallery, a rarity for the acclaimed artist, with the finished painting auctioned online a few weeks later, with all the money going to Cancer Research, in the name of my late father (and HUGE Simkins fan), Lawrence Karp (tip of hat while hiding tears to Greg and Jenn Simkins for that). There also might be a little surprise release for those who come to hang.

"Here Stands Matt Riddle" is actually my favorite Greg Simkins piece ever. It's from his "I'm Scar3d" solo show here at G1988: LA from 2007 and it really started what would become "the epic large Greg piece" trend, usually seen once or twice per show now. These giclee prints are a whopping 36 x 30 inches, hand signed and numbered by the artist and a limited edition of 50.

The "Lonely Knight" skate deck must be seen to be believed. Laser engraved into the wood, it depicts Greg's most well-known character, the White Knight in such insane detail. The quality of these decks are incredible. They are 8 x 32 inches, laser-numbered on the back of the deck and signed, both in laser (on front) and in pen (on the back). These are SUPER LIMITED to only 25!

Mark your calendars now, we'll be hanging.

Alex Pardee x Greg Simkins Collab T-Shirt and poster !!!

From Alex

I (along with the rest of Zerofriends) am proud to announce a pretty crazy milestone for Zerofriends:
Our VERY FIRST TRUE COLLABORATION t-shirt & print release!
Please file this in the "it-was-bound-to-happen-eventually-but-its-still-blowing-my-mind-at-how-cool-it-was-to-work-on" folder, as today Zerofriends released both a t-shirt and a HUGE poster featuring collaborative art between myself and GREG "CRAOLA" SIMKINS!!!!

Greg and I have collaborated in the past and we really wanted to do something cool for our first Zerofriends collab, so we decided to stop planning and just jump right in and MASH UP both of our companies ("Zerofriends", and "I'm Scared") into a deformed frankenstein-ish pile of superheroes.
What started as an innocent play on the old "Superfriends" shirts that both Greg and I had when we were in fourth grade, morphed into something a little more monstrous after a few back and forth sketch-sessions.
The end result is now available for you to dress yourself up in thanks to the age-old craft of printing!!

Starting today, The "SCARED FRIENDS" design is an insane 11-COLOR screenprint available on 3 different colors of shirts (white, slate, and light blue). And we actually used the exact color palette of the old superfriends art when we were designing this graphic.

And, because both Greg & My bedroom walls were plastered with super hero posters and giant dinosaur-eating galaxy posters, we thought "Why not produce old school-style wall posters?!" So we did just that. The "Scared Friends" image is also available as a HUGE 24" x 36" glossy poster for you (or your kids') walls!!

In the midst of everything else that is going on, this is something that i have been DYING to tell you guys about because Greg Simkins is one of my favorite artists of all time so it was a really fun collab. So be sure to check it out and grab one before they run out (as Greg's art and products seems to be more in demand than Kanye West's Nikes as of late).

Here's the info about the shirts, which are available EXCLUSIVELY online at Zerofriends ONLY!!!
