Course but Polished Posters By Jason Permenter

I can't get over how visually attractive Jason Permenter's Tenderloin Coffee Crawl poster is.  It has just the right balance of subtle type work, bold graphics, and texture effects to create a nicely polished look that doesn't look too clean while at the same time not overdoing it.  My eyes start from the top, go to the middle, and get drawn even more to the text box at the bottom that has some really great text placement  Oh yeah, Jason use to be a Volcanologist.

Stylish Lettering by Tauba Auerbach

Gouache on paper

Ink on paper

Tauba Auerbach is a graphic designer/painter from San Francisco who also works in New York.  What I like about these pieces is the spacing and arrangement of the lettering in the posters, as well as the intricacies of the last works of Ink on paper.  Here site is really cool too.

Rock Art Illustration by Chuck Sperry

San Francisco based Chuck Sperry knows how to design rock posters with a grungy and gritty feel.  He's got some really good use of play with graphics and type that combine nicely.  He was an aspiring cartoonist during his youth, and co-edited "World War 3 Illustrated " in New York. He now works through his shop Firehouse printing company, check it out.
