2010 NXNE Poster Show

North by Northeast (NXNE) is a Film, Music and Art Festival in Toronto, and apparently their have their own poster show as well, running from June 14 till June 20.  If you're around the area in Canada I'd check this out.  The design credits go to Toronto illustrator Roxanne Ignatius, who also has some other cool posters on her site.

modern Swiss poster design by C2F

C2F is a design firm in Switzerland consisting of Cybu Richli & Fabienne Burri.  They can do a very clean look or a very complex look from one poster to the next, all with a very unique graphic style.  There's a lot of depth and texture to their works, and they play with layers in a very technical way.

Jakarta International Film Festival Poster

Here's a pretty cool poster for the 2008 film festival in Jakarta, Indonesia.  Apparently it's designed by Sanubian, and from his/her/their DeviantArt and blog, the desinger is either a young male/woman/couple from Jakarta.  Upon first glance at the poster, I thought at first that the designer was holding the poster in front of them as many artists do, but then I saw the pegs and realized that it's just the border of the poster.  Kinda clever.

2010 SXSW Film Poster Awards

In all Flyer Goodness honesty, the announced winners for the 2010 SXSW Film Poster Awards were somewhat of a let down, but what really stood out was the runner up prize, Brussels designer Gilles Vranckx's poster for the gritty "Amer" which won the Special Jury Award:

Personally I enjoy the depth to the French version of the poster:

Check out the award-winning opening title animation below:

Also noteworthy is another finalist to the Title Design award, Hello Lonesome by Mr. Wonderful,
who also re-designed the opening credits to the Colbert Report

Here's some more of the cooler film posters from the 2010 SXSW Film/AIGA Austin Film Poster Award

Super Detailed Film Festival Posters by Halvor Bodin

NOTE:  to fully see the detail Halvor designs into his posters, you MUST click on the thumbnails to see the full sized images, or scroll to the bottom.

Ever see posters cut into steel sheets?  Now thats a rugged poster.

Steel-cut typographic goodness.

Love how the lined effect on the lettering looks in metal.

You must click to zoom in order to truly appreciate the level of detail Oslo's Halvor Bodin invests into his intricate poster designs.  Some drawn by hand, some painstakingly vectored, and yet other designs carved into sheets of steel.  But the end result is more or less the style of this unique designer from Norway.
