Did Sam Flores rip off Jon Foster's Dragon and Herdmans print for his Dragon tree ?

Dragon and Herdsman by Jon Foster

Dragon Tree by Sam Flores

Well an interesting story is developing. Look at the two prints above. Jon Foster feels Sam Flores has ripped off his Dragon and Herdsman print in creating his Dragon Tree print.

Looks like Sam did, hate to say it but looks to much like it. Waiting to hear from Upper Playground and Jon.

Jonathan Cathey, founder of The Loyal Subjects states,

Honestly, working in this industry for almost 10 years now as a designer, creator and MFG, the Kid Dragon has to be one of the more innovative, captivating, alluring and eloquent designs that I have come across in the world of collectibles and artist series collectibles. Truly a remarkable concept and design by Sam Flores. This will definitely be a classic.

Preview Sam Flores x UP x TLS –- Dragon Boy figure

Today I'm bringing you the very first look at Sam Flores’s amazing Dragon Boy (10”) vinyl art toy created for Upper Playground’s 10th Anniversary and produced by The Loyal Subjects. Taking a bold approach, Flores has designed Dragon Boy in three separate pieces – head, midsection and tail, that give the illusion of a Dragon floating through the clouds. The design concept will be familiar to those who viewed his recent LA solo at Subliminal projects which featured a similar painting.

The figure pushes the conceptual limits of art toys through its beautiful design, imaginative presentation, and technical paint application featuring highly detailed gradient blends. By taking risks with a firm emphasis on artful display, Dragon Boy points towards a promising future for art toys driven by imagination rather than the status quo. Slated for an August/September drop, the limited-edition figure will ship in a double-sided window box and come with a scenic card insert. Very exciting.

Sorry everyone I forgot to put the pics up earlier

Preview: Sam Flores @ Subliminal Projects

In his show Ego, Addiction and Other Bedtime Stories, opening May 2nd at Subliminal Projects, Sam Flores tackles what is perhaps one of the most pervasive themes in human existence: the struggle between light and dark. Through color and contrast, Flores addresses those parts of our selves that seek to hide behind the protective mask of acceptance while our inner demons claw at us from the inside. “There is a constant war being waged in the fight for balance,” says Flores, “to determine which side of us, good or bad, will win out in any given moment.” Yet despite the eternal conflict, Flores never hesitates to remind us of the potential for beauty to shine through—even in our darkest hours.
