Old Radiohead Flyers & Posters: Revisiting Darren Grealish

While flipping through old Radiohead flyers in anticipation of the new album, I came across this one from Darren Grealish. We featured him just over a year ago, but he's been busy creating some killer pieces with distorted psych/glam touches since then. I'm feeling the neon drenched science fictiony poster from 1995 too, but in contrast to his recent work, it looks like an entirely different artist made it.

MGMT Poster by Arik Roper

Who doesn't love the chucky type in this awesome MGMT show poster by Arik Roper?  Strange how this is the only work of his done in this style, you can check out more of his stuff on GigPosters, but it's generally more dark and acid-trippy.  Thanks again to Gregg Gordon for the tip!

Aesthetic Apparatus

Here's some more mind-boggling poster designs by Aesthetic Apparatus for the weekend.  Even when in fun colors, their designs can still be delightfully dark and pretty odd.  Don't forget to check out their posters made for the recent Dead Weather tour.

Wes Freed

Based in Richmond, Virginia, Wes Freed has been making his posters and flyers in a rare technique for such promotions: painting.  His work has one of the most natural feels to it, like a man who is doing his work in nature, by hand, with physical (not digital) techniques.  He's been making the posters for the Midwest sensation The Drive By Truckers for a while now, and those can look pretty creepy sometimes.

Aesthetic Apparatus - The Dead Weather tour

Even in faded grayscale Aesthetic Apparatus is able to design some attention-grabbing posters for The Dead Weather's recent tour.  It'd be really interesting to see their process in assembling these strange figures and faces with very unconventional objects...the inside of two palms as the shape of a head?  Revolver triggers as eyebrows?  I want what they're taking.

Darren Grealish

I saw Darren Grealish's trippy posters a few weeks ago at the Downtown LA Art Walk, and needless to say, his work speaks for itself. Some are 70s or disco inspired, others just dirty and gritty, but all of his flyers share his unique touch and lively typography.

Made In Brazil

Flyer for Brazilian Independence day, held by Pacha in New York city. The font and glow on the front complement each other well, with the layout being very pleasing to the eye.

Emek

I know...metallic bugs and horses are supposed to be played out and outdated, right? But since it's been awhile now maybe it has the nostalgic retro coolness stigma to it? Cool visual either way.

Gash

I really love how someone was able to fit in all that information rather creatively, its just an example of great planning (or superior layout intuition) that blends in with the image but also yells at you simultaneously.

SXSW

Just a few pieces I was able to scrounge up for the SXSW festival. The first and last one seem to be the strongest.

Its About Time

Love the unique presentation of the title...A pun of sorts but very well executed. Nothing wasted. Very simple, efficient and straightforward. It's minimal but it gets the job done of being attractive.
